Baptismal Font
This is a project for Dynarel (Dynamics of Religion) wherein we were asked to design our own Baptismal Font. This is where all the Sacrament of Baptism takes place inside a Church.
There are 3 main fountain, this first starts at the top. It symbolizes that we were small, our priorities, responsibilities ans our knowledge was small. Then the water flows to a bigger bowl wherein it has more space to fill hence we have grown, and more responsibilities are passed on to us. And last, the more we fill the bigger the things are required of us and the bigger the sacrifices we must face in our lives.
There are 3 main colors in the Baptismal Font they are green, blue and black/grey. Each one symbolizes the elements: green-nature, blue-water, and black/grey-mountains. If we form them all together they create the earth. For the earth is the first thing God created, it says in Genesis 1:1 "In the Beginning God created the heavens and the earth." And in this earth we are created to be co-creators of God and to fulfill His promises He made to Adam.
There are two ramps in the Baptismal Font. One is for handicaps to go up and down and the other is for the immersion of the Sacrament. The latter has railings that consists of falling water. This concept is from the crossing of the Israelite into the Red Sea. It is a baptism for the Israelites because they have left Egypt, trusted God and journeyed to the promise land. The grand staircase and ceremonial stage is for the whole community to witness the Baptism and to bear witness to the glory and mercy of God to His children. It also symbolizes the grand entrance of the ones receiving the Sacrament. It is also made to accommodate 5-6 adults.
There are 3 gold light on the terrace of the Font. It symbolizes the Holy Trinity and there is one silver light and that is what symbolizes all of us.
3 fountains 3 colors 2 ramps 3 golden lights 1 silver light
12. These are the 12 things that can be found in the Baptismal Font. The 12 disciples of Jesus. 12 Apostles. 12 tribes of Israel and 12 is one of God's favorite number (besides the number 7 and its multiples).
